Pages 2 to 143
The page numbers here are this book's own folio numbers, counted from the front.
Each prayer begins with a line giving its page number -- to jump there, search for the word page followed by the number, in lower case: for example, page 5.
Where a prayer runs over more than one page, the extra numbers are listed on the lines just below, each marked continued, so a search for any page in the book lands on the prayer being said on it.
Under each heading come the rubrics -- the standing, sitting and other directions -- each marked with two right angle brackets. Then the transliteration, one line to a line as it is sung. Then the English, under the word English.
In the braille file the transliteration is uncontracted and the English is contracted, so that the Hebrew words read letter by letter.

And I -- I bow, I bend low, I kneel before the Eternal, my Maker.
As for me -- let my prayer come to You, Eternal One, in a time of favor. God, in Your abundant love, answer me with the truth of Your rescue.

These are the things that have no fixed measure: the corner of the field left for the poor, the first-fruits, the pilgrim's appearance at the Temple, acts of loving-kindness, and the study of Torah. And these are the things whose fruit a person enjoys in this world while the principal endures for the world to come: honoring father and mother, acts of loving-kindness, and making peace between one person and another -- and the study of Torah, which equals them all.
Rav Y'huda bar Sheila taught in the name of Rabbi Assi, in the name of Rabbi Yochanan: There are six things whose fruit a person enjoys in this world while the principal endures for the world to come: welcoming guests, visiting the sick, giving heart to one's prayer, rising early to the house of study, raising one's children toward the study of Torah, and judging another person favorably.

Blessed is the One who has mercy on the earth. Blessed is the One who has mercy on all creatures. Blessed is the One who gives good reward to those who stand in awe. Blessed is the One who lives forever and endures for all time. Blessed is the One who redeems and rescues. Blessed is that Name.
Blessed are You, Eternal our God, Source of the universe -- the God, the merciful Source, praised by the mouth of Your people, glorified by the tongue of the faithful and of all who serve You, extolled in the songs of David Your servant. With praises and with songs we praise You, Eternal our God -- we make You great, we laud You, we glorify You, and we call Your name to mind, our God: the Only One, life of all the worlds -- lauded and glorified, whose great name endures to the very end of time. Blessed are You, Eternal One, sung in praises.

A psalm, a song for the day of Shabbat. It is good to give thanks to You, to sing to Your name, Most High -- to tell of Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness through the nights, on the ten-stringed harp and the lyre, to the murmuring of the harp.
You have gladdened me by what You have made; at the work of Your hands I sing for joy. How great are Your works -- how deep beyond us are Your thoughts.
A brutish person cannot know this, a fool cannot grasp it: though the wicked spring up like grass and all who do harm blossom, it is only to be destroyed forever -- while You are exalted for all time. For look: those who set themselves against You, the ones who do harm, scatter and are undone.
You have lifted my strength high; I am anointed with fresh oil. My eyes have seen the fall of those who watched for me; my ears take in the fate of those who would rise against me.
The just flourish like the date palm and grow tall like a cedar of Lebanon -- planted in Your house, they blossom in the courtyards of our God. Even in old age they still bear fruit, staying full of sap and green -- to declare that You are upright, my Rock, in whom there is no wrong.

A song of praise, of David. I will lift You high, my God, my Sovereign, and bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You, and praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the One, and greatly to be praised; that greatness is beyond all searching out.
One generation praises Your works to the next, and tells of Your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and Your wondrous deeds, I will meditate.
They will speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will recount Your greatness.
They will pour out the memory of Your abundant goodness, and sing of Your justice.
Gracious and compassionate is the One, slow to anger and great in love.
The One is good to all, and that mercy rests upon all creation.
All Your works will thank You, and the faithful will bless You.
They will tell the glory of Your reign, and speak of Your power --
to make known to all people those mighty acts, and the glorious splendor of that reign.
Your reign is a reign for all worlds, and Your rule endures through every generation.
The One holds up all who fall, and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You in hope, and You give them their food in its season.
You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
The One is just in all those ways, and faithful in all those deeds.
The One is near to all who call -- to all who call out in truth.
The One fulfills the longing of those who are in awe, hears their cry, and saves them.
The One watches over all who love, but all the wicked will be destroyed.
My mouth will speak the praise of the One; let all flesh bless that holy name, forever and ever.
And we will bless Yah, from now and forever. Halleluyah.

The breath of all life blesses Your name, Eternal our God; the spirit of all flesh glorifies and lifts up the memory of You, always.
Even if our mouths were as full of song as the sea, our tongues loud with joy as its waves, our lips wide with praise as the open sky, our eyes bright as the sun and the moon, our hands spread like the eagles of the sky, our feet swift as deer -- still we could not thank You enough, Eternal our God and God of our ancestors, or bless Your name for even one of the thousand thousand-thousands and myriad myriads of times You did good for our ancestors and for us.
From Egypt You redeemed us, Eternal our God, and from the house of bondage You set us free; in famine You fed us, in plenty You sustained us; from the sword You saved us, from plague You delivered us, and from sickness, harsh and lingering, You drew us up.
And so the limbs You set within us, the breath and soul You breathed into us, the tongue You placed in our mouths -- they themselves will thank and bless, praise and glorify, exalt and revere, sanctify and declare the oneness of Your name, our Sovereign.
We will praise You and extol You and glorify You and bless Your holy name, as it is said: "Of David -- bless the Eternal, O my soul, and all that is within me, that holy name."
On Shabbat, Shochein Ad begins here; on the Days of Awe, at HaMelech.

The Eternal dwells forever, exalted and holy is that name. And it is written: sing out, you just ones, to the Eternal -- praise is fitting on the lips of the upright.
On the mouth of the upright You are praised; in the words of the just, blessed; on the tongue of the faithful, raised high; among the holy, made holy.
And in the great gatherings of Your people, the house of Yisrael, in song Your name is glorified, in every generation.
For such is the duty of all that is formed, before You, Eternal our God and God of our ancestors: to thank, praise, laud, glorify, exalt, adorn, bless, raise high, and acclaim --
beyond all the words of the songs and praises of David son of Jesse, Your servant, Your anointed.

May the great name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, raised and honored, uplifted and celebrated be the name of the Holy One of blessing -- far beyond any blessing or song, any praise or consolation that can be spoken in the world -- and say: Amen.

All things thank You, all things praise You, all things say: nothing is holy like the Eternal. All things lift You up, Selah -- Maker of it all. Every single day the gates of the east open, the windows of the sky split wide; the sun is drawn from its place and the moon from its resting-station, and light comes to the whole world and all who dwell in it, in mercy.
You light the earth and those who live upon it, in mercy, and in Your goodness renew, each day, always, the work of creation. You alone have been lifted high from of old -- praised, glorified, exalted from days beyond memory. Be merciful with us, God of all time, out of Your great mercy -- our strength, our sheltering rock, the shield that saves us, the fastness at our side.

God, over all that is made, blessed and praised by every breathing mouth: greatness and goodness were before the world; knowledge and understanding surround the One.
Exalted above the holy creatures, glorious upon the chariot of splendor; merit and fairness before the throne, love and mercy filling that glory.
Good are the lights our God created -- formed with knowledge, wisdom, and care; strength and power set within them, to govern within the heart of the world.
Full of glow and giving off light, their radiance lovely across all the world; glad as they rise, joyful as they set -- doing, in awe, the will of the One who made them.
Beauty and honor they give to the Name, gladness and song in memory of that greatness. God called to the sun, and it blazed with light; looked, and shaped the face of the moon.
All the host of the heights gives praise -- glory and grandeur, seraphim and ofanim and the holy creatures.

And the seventh day itself gives praise, and says: a song for the day of Shabbat -- how good it is to give thanks to the Eternal. And so all Your creatures glorify and bless You, offering praise, honor, and greatness to the God who forms all things and hands rest to the people Yisrael, in holiness, on the holy day of Shabbat.
May Your Name, our God, be hallowed, and the memory of You be glorified -- in the heavens above and on the earth below. Be blessed, our Deliverer, for the splendor of the work of Your hands; and for the lights of light that You made -- let them glorify You, Selah.

All of them beloved, all of them clear, all of them mighty -- all of them doing, in awe and reverence, the will of the One who made them; opening their mouths in holiness and purity, in song and melody, blessing and praising, glorifying, revering, hallowing, and declaring the oneness of --
the Name of God -- the great, the mighty, the awesome -- holy is the One. And they take upon themselves, each from the other, the obligation of that Oneness; and they give permission, one to another, to hallow their Maker, calmly, in clear and sweet speech, all as one answering the Kedushah in awe and saying:
Holy, holy, holy is the Source of all being; the fullness of the whole earth is that glory. And the ofanim and the holy creatures, in a great rushing sound, rise toward the seraphim; facing them they give praise and say: Blessed is the glory of the Eternal, from its place.

who in goodness renews, each day, always, the work of creation -- as it is written: to the One who makes great lights, whose love is forever.
May You shine a new light upon Zion, and may we all soon be worthy of its light.
Blessed are You, Eternal One, who forms the lights.

And you shall love HaShem your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. Let these words that I command you today rest upon your heart. Teach them again and again to your children; speak them when you sit in your home and when you walk on the way, when you lie down and when you rise.
Bind them as a sign upon your hand, let them be a symbol before your eyes, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
If you truly listen -- and keep on listening -- to the mitzvot I give you this day, loving HaShem your God and serving with all your heart and all your soul, then the rains will fall on your land in their season, the early rain and the late; you will gather your grain and your wine and your oil, and there will be grass in your fields for your animals -- you will eat, and be satisfied.
But take care, for a heart is easily led astray: when you turn away, serving other gods and bowing down to them, the bond frays -- the skies seem to close, the rain holds back, the ground withholds its yield, and you are soon adrift, lost from the good land. So set these words upon your heart and soul; bind them as a sign on your hand and let them rest between your eyes; teach them to your children, speaking them at home and on the way, when you lie down and when you rise; and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates -- that your days, and your children's days, may be many on the land, as many as the days of the heavens over the earth.
HaShem said to Moses: tell the people of Yisrael to make themselves fringes on the corners of their garments, in every generation, and to set on each corner a thread of blue. Look at it and remember all the mitzvot of HaShem, and do them -- and do not go chasing after the cravings of your own heart and eyes.
So that you will remember and do all My mitzvot, and be holy to your God. I am HaShem your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am HaShem your God.

And the words of the Eternal are living and enduring, faithful and cherished, forever and to all eternity -- for our ancestors and for us, for our children and for our generations, and for every generation of the seed of Yisrael, Your servants; for the first and for the last, a word good and enduring, forever: true and faithful, a law that will not pass away.

True: You are the guide of Your people, mighty to take up their cause. True: You are the first and You are the last; besides You we have no one who redeems and saves.
From Egypt You redeemed us, HaShem our God, and from the house of bondage You set us free. You brought us through the Sea of Reeds, carrying the beloved across while the waters closed over those who pursued them -- and we came out singing.
For this the beloved praised and exalted God, offering songs and praises and thanksgiving to the living and enduring One -- high and lifted up, great and awesome, who brings down the proud and lifts up the lowly, frees the captive and redeems the humble, helps the poor and answers the people in the hour of their cry.
Praises to the Most High, blessed and praised. Moses and Miriam and the children of Yisrael sang to You, in great joy, and all of them said:
Who is like You among the mighty, O Source of freedom? Who is like You -- glorious in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders!
A new song the redeemed sang to Your name at the edge of the sea; together they gave thanks, called You One, and said: The Eternal will reign forever and ever.
Rock of Yisrael -- rise up to Yisrael's help; make good on Your promise, and set Judah and Yisrael free. Our redeemer -- Source of all being is that name -- the Holy One of Yisrael. Blessed are You, Eternal One, who redeemed Yisrael.

From Your place, shine out and hold over us -- for we are waiting for You. When will it take hold in Zion? Soon, in our own days -- dwell there forever. Be magnified and made holy within Jerusalem Your city, from generation to generation, for all time. May our own eyes see that oneness, as the word is sung in the songs of Your strength, by the hand of David, Your anointed of justice:

V'shamru v'nei Yisra'el et haShabbat, la'asot et haShabbat l'dorotam b'rit olam.
Beini uvein b'nei Yisra'el ot hi l'olam, ki sheshet yamim asa Adonai et hashamayim v'et ha'aretz, uvayom hash'vi'i shavat vayinafash.
The people of Israel shall keep Shabbat, observing Shabbat in every generation as a covenant for all time.
It is a sign forever between Me and the people of Israel, for in six days the Eternal made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day rested and drew breath.
V'lo n'tato Adonai Eloheinu l'goyei ha'aratzot, v'lo hinchalto malkeinu l'ov'dei f'silim, v'gam bimnuchato lo yishk'nu arelim, ki l'Yisra'el am'cha n'tato b'ahava, l'zera Ya'akov asher bam bachareta.

You did not give it to the nations of the lands, nor make it the inheritance of those who serve carved images; and in its rest the uncircumcised shall not dwell -- for to Israel Your people You gave it, in love, to the seed of Jacob whom You chose.
A people who make the seventh day holy -- all of them fill themselves and delight in Your goodness; for in the seventh day You took pleasure and made it holy, calling it the treasure of days, a remembrance of the work of creation.
Yism'chu v'malchutcha shom'rei Shabbat v'kor'ei oneg, am m'kad'shei sh'vi'i, kulam yisb'u v'yit'an'gu mituvecha, uvashvi'i ratzita bo v'kidashto, chemdat yamim oto karata, zecher l'ma'aseh v'reshit.
Those who keep Shabbat and call it a delight will rejoice in a world made whole -- a people who make the seventh day holy, all of them filling themselves, delighting in Your goodness; for in the seventh day You took pleasure and made it holy, calling it the treasure of days, a remembrance of the work of creation.
Eloheinu ve'lohei avoteinu v'imoteinu, r'tzeh vimnuchatenu, kad'shenu b'mitzvotecha, v'ten chelkenu b'toratecha, sab'enu mituvecha, v'samchenu bishu'atecha, v'taher libenu l'ovd'cha be'emet. V'hanchilenu Adonai Eloheinu b'ahava uvratzon Shabbat kodshecha, v'yanuchu vah Yisra'el m'kad'shei sh'mecha. Baruch ata Adonai, m'kadesh haShabbat.
Our God and God of our ancestors -- take pleasure in our rest. Make us holy through Your mitzvot and give us our portion in Your Torah; fill us with Your goodness, gladden us with Your saving help, and make our hearts pure to serve You in truth. In love and favor, grant us Your holy Shabbat as our inheritance, and let Israel, who make Your name holy, find rest in her -- and let rest be the portion of everyone alive. Blessed are You, Eternal One, who makes Shabbat holy.
R'tzeh Adonai Eloheinu b'am'cha Yisra'el uvitfilatam, uvahava t'kabel b'ratzon, uthi l'ratzon tamid avodat Yisra'el amecha.
V'techezena eineinu b'shuvcha l'Tziyon b'rachamim. Baruch ata Adonai, hamachazir sh'chinato l'Tziyon.
Take pleasure, Eternal our God, in Your people Israel and in their prayer; in love receive that prayer with favor, and may the service of Your people Israel always be, in truth, for the good.
May our eyes behold Your loving return to Zion. Blessed are You, Eternal One, who returns Your presence to Zion.

Source of compassion who dwells on high -- in Your vast mercy, remember with mercy the faithful, the upright, and the whole-hearted: the holy communities who gave their lives for the sanctification of the Name -- beloved and cherished in their lives, and in their death not parted.
Swifter than eagles, stronger than lions, they did the will of the One who made them. Remember them, our God, for good, together with all the world's righteous -- and avenge the spilled blood of Your servants.
As it is written in the Torah of Moses, man of God: "Sing out, O nations, for this people -- for the blood of God's servants will be avenged, and vengeance returned upon their foes, and God will wipe clean the land of this people." And by the hand of Your servant-prophets it is written: "I will hold their blood guiltless -- I have not held it guiltless -- and the Eternal dwells in Zion."
And in the holy writings it is said: "Why should the nations say, Where is their God? -- let there be known among the nations, before our eyes, the vengeance for the spilled blood of Your servants." And it says: "For the One who requires blood remembers them, and has not forgotten the cry of the lowly."
And it says: "God will judge among the nations, heaping high the dead, crushing the head over a vast land -- drinking from the brook along the way, and so lifting up the head."

The voice carves out flames of fire; the voice makes the wilderness shudder, shakes the wilderness of Kadesh; the voice sends the deer into labor and strips the forests bare -- and in the sanctuary, everything cries out: kavod. It is upon us to acknowledge the Oneness of Creation, and to celebrate the majesty of it all -- we who were not made like the nations of the lands, nor set like the families of the earth; whose portion is not theirs, whose lot is our own. And so we bend, and bow, and give thanks before what is beyond every power, the Holy One of blessing.
The heavens stretched wide, the earth set on its foundations, glory and strength filling the highest heights -- this is our God; there is no other, none else at all. As it is written in the Torah: Know this day and take it to heart, that the Eternal is God in the heavens above and on the earth below; there is no other.
And so we hope in You, the Eternal our God: soon to see the splendor of Your strength, when every idol and false god is swept from the earth, and the world is mended whole in the oneness of the Almighty. All who live will call on Your name, and earth's wrongdoers will turn back to You. Let the world come to know that every knee bends and every tongue swears true before You. Before You, Eternal our God, may all bow low, honor Your name, and take on together the obligation of Oneness, soon and always. All is Yours, and forever You endure in glory, as it is written in Your Torah: The Eternal will reign forever and ever. And it is said: the Eternal shall be sovereign over all the earth; on that day the Eternal shall be One, and the name One.

You are One; there is no second to compare or set beside You. Without beginning, without end -- Yours is the strength, and Yours all that is. You are my God, my living Redeemer, my Rock in time of trouble; my banner, my refuge, the portion of my cup on the day I call.
Into Your hand I entrust my spirit, when I sleep and when I wake; and with my spirit, my body too -- the Eternal is with me, I will not fear.

When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech, Judah became God's holy place, Israel God's dominion. The sea saw and fled, the Jordan turned back; the mountains danced like rams, the hills like young sheep. What frightened you, sea, that you fled -- Jordan, that you turned back? Mountains, that you danced like rams -- hills, like young sheep? Tremble, earth, before the One, before the God of Jacob, who turns rock into a pool of water, flint into a flowing spring.

Not to us, O One, not to us, but to Your name give the glory -- for Your love, for Your faithfulness. Why should the nations ask, "Where, now, is their God?" -- when our God is in the heavens, doing whatever God wills. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands: mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear, noses that cannot smell; hands that cannot feel, feet that cannot walk, no sound rising in their throats. Those who make them become like them -- everyone who trusts in them. Israel, trust in the One -- our help and our shield. House of Aaron, trust in the One -- our help and our shield. You who revere the One, trust in the One -- our help and our shield. The One has remembered us, and will bless: the house of Israel, the house of Aaron, all who revere the One, the small together with the great. May the One increase you -- you and your children. Blessed are you by the One, maker of heaven and earth. The heavens are the heavens of the One, but the earth is given to humankind. The dead do not praise Yah, nor any who go down into silence -- but we will bless Yah, now and forever. Halleluyah!

I love that the One hears my voice, my pleading -- that You bent an ear to me, so all my days I will call. The cords of death wound round me, the straits of Sheol found me, and I met only trouble and grief; then I called on the name of the One: "Please -- save my life." Gracious is the One, and just; our God overflows with mercy. The One keeps the simple; I was brought low, and God saved me. Return, my soul, to your rest, for the One has been good to you -- You freed my life from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I will walk before the One in the land of the living. I kept faith even when I said, "I am greatly afflicted"; even in my panic, when I said, "No one can be trusted." How can I repay the One for all the One's goodness to me? I will lift the cup of rescue and call on the name of the One. My vows to the One I will keep, in the sight of all the people. Precious in the eyes of the One is the death of the faithful. O One -- I am Your servant, Your servant, the child of Your handmaid; You have loosed my bonds. To You I will bring a thanksgiving-offering and call on the name of the One. My vows to the One I will keep, in the sight of all the people -- in the courts of the house of the One, in your midst, Jerusalem. Halleluyah!

Give thanks to the One, who is good -- whose love is forever. Let Israel say it; let the house of Aaron say it; let all who revere the One say it: God's love is forever.
From the narrow place I called to Yah, and Yah answered me with wide-open space. The One is with me -- I will not be afraid; what can a mere mortal do to me? The One is with me, among those who help me; I will yet look my enemies in the face. Better to shelter in the One than to trust in mortals; better to shelter in the One than to trust in the powerful. All the nations surrounded me -- in the name of the One I cut them down. They swarmed around me, closed in on every side -- in the name of the One I cut them down. They swarmed round me like bees, and were snuffed out like a fire of thorns -- in the name of the One I cut them down. You shoved me hard, to make me fall -- but the One helped me.
Yah is my strength and my song, and has become my rescue. Voices of joy and rescue ring out in the tents of the just: the right hand of the One does mighty things. The right hand of the One is lifted high; the right hand of the One does mighty things. I will not die but live, and tell what Yah has done. Yah disciplined me hard -- but did not hand me over to death.
Open for me the gates of justice -- I will enter through them and thank Yah. This is the gate of the One; the just enter through it. I thank You, for You answered me and became my rescue. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this is the One's doing, a wonder in our eyes.
This is the day the One has made -- let us be glad and rejoice in it.
O One, please -- save us! O One, please -- let us thrive! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the One; from the house of the One we bless you. The One is God, who has given us light; bind the festival offering with cords, up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I thank You; my God, I lift You high. Give thanks to the One, who is good -- God's love is forever.

The people of Israel shall keep Shabbat, observing Shabbat in every generation as a covenant for all time. It is a sign forever between Me and the people of Israel, for in six days the Eternal made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day rested and drew breath.
Remember the day of Shabbat, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is Shabbat for the Eternal your God: you shall do no work -- you, your son and your daughter, your servant and your maidservant, your animals, and the stranger within your gates. For in six days the Eternal made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Eternal blessed the day of Shabbat and made it holy.

Halleluyah. Praise the One, my soul!
I will praise the One all my life, sing to my God as long as I am.
Put no trust in the powerful, in mortals who hold no rescue.
Their breath departs, they return to the dust; on that day their every plan is lost.
Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope rests on the One, their God --
Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and all that fills it, who keeps faith forever;
who brings justice to the oppressed, gives bread to the hungry. The One sets prisoners free.
The One opens the eyes of the blind; the One lifts those bent low; the One loves the just.
The One guards the stranger, gives heart to the orphan and the widow -- but turns the way of the wicked aside.
The Eternal will reign forever, your God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Halleluyah.

Halleluyah -- how good it is to sing to our God, how pleasant, how fitting the praise.
The One rebuilds Jerusalem, gathers in the scattered of Yisrael.
The One heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds.
The One counts the number of the stars, and calls each one by name.
Great is the One, vast in power; that understanding is beyond all measure.
The One lifts up the lowly, and brings the wicked down to the ground.
Sing to the One with thanks, make music to our God on the lyre --
who wraps the sky in clouds, readies rain for the earth, makes the hills grow green with grass;
who gives the animals their food, and to the young ravens what they cry for.
Not in the strength of the horse does the One delight, nor take pleasure in the runner's legs;
the One takes pleasure in those who stand in awe, who wait for that faithful love.
Praise the One, O Jerusalem; sing to your God, O Zion.
For the One has strengthened the bars of your gates, and blessed your children within you;
who sets your borders at peace, and fills you with the finest wheat.
The One sends a word to the earth; that command runs swiftly.
The One spreads snow like wool, scatters frost like ashes,
flings down hail like crumbs -- before that cold, who can stand?
The One sends a word and melts them, lets the wind blow, and the waters flow.
The One tells these words to Jacob, the statutes and the laws to Yisrael.
The One did not do so for any other nation; they do not know these laws. Halleluyah.

Praise, all you angels; praise, all you hosts.
Praise, sun and moon; praise, all you stars of light.
Praise, highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the One, who commanded, and they were created;
who set them firm forever and ever, gave a law that will not pass away.
Praise the One from the earth, you sea-monsters and all the depths,
fire and hail, snow and mist, storm-wind that does that bidding,
the mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars,
wild things and all the tame, creeping creatures and winged birds,
kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth,
young men and young women alike, the old and the young together.
Let them praise the name of the One, for that name alone is exalted; its splendor is over earth and heaven.

Let them praise that name with dancing, make music with hand-drum and lyre.
For the One delights in this people, and crowns the humble with rescue.
Let the faithful exult in glory, and sing for joy upon their couches,
praise of God in their throats and a two-edged sword in their hand --
to bring retribution on the nations, punishment on the peoples,
to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with chains of iron,

On that day the One saved Yisrael from the hand of Egypt, and Yisrael saw the Egyptians dead on the shore of the sea.
And Yisrael saw the great hand the One wielded against Egypt, and the people stood in awe of the One, and they trusted in the One and in Moses, God's servant.
Then Moses and the children of Yisrael sang this song to the One, saying: I will sing to the One, who has triumphed gloriously -- horse and rider hurled into the sea.
Yah is my strength and my song, and has become my rescue; this is my God, whom I will glorify, the God of my father, whom I will exalt.
The One is a warrior; the One is that name.
Pharaoh's chariots and his army the One cast into the sea; the best of his officers were drowned in the Sea of Reeds.
The deeps covered them; down they went into the depths like a stone.
Your right hand, O One, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O One, shatters the enemy.
In Your great triumph You break those who rise against You; You send out Your fury, and it consumes them like straw.
At the breath of Your nostrils the waters piled high, the flowing streams stood up like a wall, the deeps froze in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said: I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my desire will have its fill of them; I will draw my sword, my hand will drive them out.
You blew with Your breath, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
Who is like You among the mighty, O Source of freedom? Who is like You -- glorious in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders!
You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed them.
In Your love You led the people You redeemed; in Your strength You guided them to Your holy dwelling.
The peoples heard and trembled; anguish gripped the dwellers of Philistia.
Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; the leaders of Moab, trembling seized them; all the dwellers of Canaan melted away.
Terror and dread fell upon them; before the greatness of Your arm they stood still as stone -- until Your people crossed over, O One, until the people You made Your own crossed over.
You will bring them and plant them on the mountain of Your heritage, the place You made for Your dwelling, O One -- the sanctuary, Eternal One, that Your hands founded.
The Eternal will reign forever and ever.

Our God and God of our ancestors -- may the memory of us rise and come and reach You; be seen, accepted, and heard; be counted and remembered -- the memory of us and of our ancestors, the memory of Jerusalem Your holy city, and the memory of all Your people the house of Israel -- for deliverance and goodness, for grace, kindness, and compassion, for life and for peace, on this day of the New Moon / the Festival of Matzot / the Festival of Sukkot.
Remember us this day, Eternal our God, for goodness; count us on it for blessing; save us on it for life. With a word of rescue and mercy, spare us and be gracious to us; have compassion on us and save us -- for our eyes are turned to You -- You are God, gracious and compassionate.

For the miracles and the rescue, for the mighty acts, the deliverances, and the wars that You waged for our ancestors in those days, at this season:
In the days of Mattathias son of Yochanan, the High Priest, the Hasmonean, and his sons -- when the wicked kingdom of Greece rose against Your people Israel to make them forget Your Torah and turn them from the laws of Your will -- You in Your great mercy stood by them in their time of trouble. You took up their cause, judged their claim, and answered their wrong; You gave the strong into the hands of the weak, the many into the hands of the few, the impure into the hands of the pure, the guilty into the hands of the innocent, and the arrogant into the hands of those who kept Your Torah.
For Yourself You made a great and holy name in Your world, and for Your people Israel You worked a great deliverance and rescue, as on this very day. Afterward Your children came into Your sanctuary, cleared Your Temple, purified Your holy place, and kindled lights in Your sacred courts -- and they set these eight days of Hanukkah to give thanks and praise to Your great name.
On Purim, add this to the Modim blessing, after the Al hanisim opening above:
Bimei Mord'chai v'Ester b'Shushan habira, k'she'amad aleihem Haman harasha, bikesh l'hashmid laharog ulabed et kol haY'hudim, mina'ar v'ad zaken, taf v'nashim, b'yom echad, bishlosha asar l'chodesh sh'neim asar, hu chodesh Adar, ushlalam lavoz.
V'ata b'rachameicha harabim hefarta et atzato, v'kilkalta et machashavto, vahashevota lo g'mulo b'rosho, v'talu oto v'et banav al ha'etz.
In the days of Mordechai and Esther, in Shushan the capital, when the wicked Haman rose against them and sought to destroy, to kill, and to wipe out all the Jews -- young and old, children and women -- in a single day, the thirteenth of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions:
You in Your great mercy overturned his plan, spoiled his scheme, and turned his own design back upon his head -- and he and his sons were hanged upon the gallows.
From Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur, add these four lines to the Amidah, each where it is marked.
page 141 continued; page 142 continued
Add to the first blessing, Avot v'Imahot, after "... for the sake of Your name":
Zochreinu l'chayim, melech chafetz bachayim, v'chotveinu b'sefer hachayim, l'ma'ancha Elohim chayim.
Remember us for life, You who delight in life, and write us in the Book of Life -- for Your own sake, living God.
Add to the second blessing, G'vurot, after "... making rescue blossom":
Mi chamocha av harachamim, zocher y'tzurav l'chayim b'rachamim.
Who is like You, Source of mercy, who in compassion remembers Your creatures for life?
Add near the close of the Modim blessing:
Uch'tov l'chayim tovim kol b'nei v'ritecha.
And write down for a good life all the children of Your covenant.
Add to the final blessing, Shalom, just before its seal:
B'sefer chayim, b'racha v'shalom, ufarnasa tova, nizacher v'nikatev l'fanecha, anachnu v'chol am'cha beit Yisra'el, l'chayim tovim ulshalom.
In the Book of Life, blessing, and peace, and of good sustenance, may we be remembered and written before You -- we and all Your people the house of Israel -- for a good life and for peace.
In the third blessing, say this seal instead of ha'El hakadosh:
the Holy Sovereign
Baruch ata Adonai, haMelech hakadosh.
Blessed are You, Eternal One -- the holy Sovereign.
In the weekday Amidah only, the blessing for justice seals:
haMelech hamishpat
the Sovereign of justice
In every Kaddish, say l'eila ul'eila:
... l'eila ul'eila mikol birchata v'shirata, tushb'chata v'nechamata da'amiran b'alma...
... far, far beyond any blessing or song, any praise or consolation we can speak...
On the first night of a festival, and at any first -- we add the Shehecheyanu:
the blessing
Baruch ata Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha'olam, shehecheyanu v'kiy'manu v'higi'anu laz'man haze.
Blessed are You, Eternal our God, Source of the universe, who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this moment.
